7 Considerations for 2018
Or, “A Message From The AMT Chairperson”By Michelle McKerron
What is this time of year like for you?
For me, it can get hectic when seemingly every client is wanting their ‘final’ appointment of the year, and at the same time moving or cancelling said appointment due to their life being a crazy rush between here and there. Some days it’s all I can do to remember to breathe! There are public and private events to juggle and lots of opportunities to gather together with people – which can be uplifting and exhausting!
However the Christmas/New Year period isn’t all intense social calendars and too much traffic. It’s quite often a chance to take a break alongside the majority of Australia. So if you can, I encourage you to take a planned break – not washing towels, not cleaning the clinic, but some real head space from the busy lifestyles we tend to live. Get your RDI of Vit D (but stay cool) and take the opportunity to reminisce a little or prepare and plan for 2018.

Here are 7 things to consider as you enjoy/endure the summer break:
- Did you set yourself goals for 2017 and did you achieve them?
- What were your priorities and do you need to shift them?
- Where would you like to be in 3, 6 or 12 months from now?
- What could you read, study or otherwise consume that will improve your practice going into the New Year?
- What, if anything, can you do to simplify life a little?
- Have you read through your Code of Practice lately, or revised your Code of Ethics?
- What skill set might you have that you could offer to AMT, to help us achieve our goals as an association?
It’s also often a great time of year to pick up a bargain!
So what’s on your wish list at the moment?
AMT in 2018
What a great year 2018 is shaping up to be. Busy, but that’s good! With our AGM planned for May in Adelaide, and our Annual Conference back in Sydney in October, alongside our continuing interactions via email, Twitter and Facebook, there will be many and varied opportunities to network. The AMT Board have some big tasks ahead as we start final preparations in our trial mentoring program, as well as other initiatives in line with the AMT strategic plan. You know we’ll keep you posted with developments.
Thank you for your support in this past year. There is an energy that is palpable among the membership which is exciting for AMT Board members and HO staff as we represent you and the industry. So best wishes for the New Year; rest, recuperate and get ready for 2018!
AMT Head Office Summer Break
AMT Head Office will be in partial shut down from Friday 22 December 2017. After a well-deserved break, business will resume on Monday, 8 January 2018. However, the office will still be operating on skeleton staff during this period. This means we will be checking and processing emails and messages. Please ensure all emails are sent to info@amt.org.au.
