{"id":1449,"date":"2019-03-01T09:00:05","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T22:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.amt.org.au\/?p=1449"},"modified":"2019-03-05T11:40:33","modified_gmt":"2019-03-05T00:40:33","slug":"remedial-massage-and-myotherapy-still-eligible-for-health-insurance-rebates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.amt.org.au\/index.php\/2019\/03\/01\/remedial-massage-and-myotherapy-still-eligible-for-health-insurance-rebates\/","title":{"rendered":"Remedial Massage and Myotherapy still eligible for health insurance rebates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It may seem like a bad April Fool&#8217;s day prank but the April 1 exclusion \nof a whole swag of natural therapies from the private health insurance \nrebate <strong>does not apply to remedial massage and myotherapy<\/strong>.\n Australians with appropriate ancillary cover will continue to be able \nto claim on relevant services provided by AMT members who meet the \nprovider criteria of the funds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1 April 2019 the following natural therapies will be excluded from the definition of private health insurance general treatment and will no longer receive the private health insurance rebate as part of a general treatment policy: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Alexander technique<\/li><li>Aromatherapy<\/li><li>Bowen Therapy<\/li><li>Buteyko<\/li><li>Feldenkrais<\/li><li>Western herbalism<\/li><li>Homeopathy<\/li><li>Iridology<\/li><li>Kinesiology<\/li><li>Naturopathy<\/li><li>Pilates<\/li><li>Reflexology<\/li><li>Rolfing<\/li><li>Shiatsu<\/li><li>Tai chi,<\/li><li>Yoga<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information, please refer to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.health.gov.au\/internet\/main\/publishing.nsf\/Content\/private-health-insurance-reforms-fact-sheet-removing-coverage-for-some-natural-therapies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announcement<\/a> on the Department of Health website.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it&#8217;s business as usual for remedial massage and myotherapy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You could be forgiven for thinking that the Government&#8217;s April 1 deadline for the exclusion of many natural therapies from the private health insurance rebate is a joke.
